Nurse for the Neurology Clinic

At the Neuro-Head-Neck Center at Umeå University Hospital, approximately 600 people work today with various aspects of investigation, treatment, and rehabilitation of diseases and injuries affecting the nervous system, brain, ears, nose, and throat. The foundation of our operations is patients in need of highly specialized care from northern Sweden.

The Neurology Clinic is a specialist clinic for neurology and neurosurgery. We receive patients referred by doctors who have assessed that specialist competence is required. In addition to general neurology and neurosurgery, there are also several diagnosis-related teams working within NIM (Neuroimmunology such as MS), Parkinson's, Epilepsy, ALS, NPH (Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus), and DBS (Deep Brain Stimulation) that include various professional categories.

We are looking for a nurse to work at the Neurology Clinic. The work will consist of general clinic duties but also the possibility to focus on specific teams.

The challenges vary from patient to patient, making the nurse's tasks diverse and varied.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nurse with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.

In this role, you act as a hub for the patient and the various professionals in the team, such as doctors, social workers, dietitians, secretaries, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. Part of the patient contact also includes having your own nursing visits.

The Neurology Clinic, NUS, receives patients from the entire region, and as a nurse, you are responsible and involved in the treatment of these patients. You also have an advisory role for nursing colleagues from other regions.

As a nurse, you will plan the clinic work, coordinate efforts in outpatient care, book and call patients for both doctor visits and nursing appointments, provide internal and external telephone advice and follow-up, actively participate in quality improvement efforts within the organization, maintain contact with external actors, and be involved in mentoring staff and students.

The tasks vary, and you have great freedom to plan and structure your day based on the clinic's needs and assignments. In collaboration with other clinics within the base unit, other work with different hours/locations may also become relevant during weekends and holiday periods.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Experience in outpatient care and/or knowledge in neurology is an advantage. You have experience working in the Cosmic journal system.

We prefer that you have experience working in teams and have good organizational skills. As a person, you are service-oriented and enjoy patient contact. You are self-driven and like to take your own initiatives. You have good communication skills and work well in collaboration with the clinic's other colleagues.
